How to win the high school popularity contest - Coolest Girl in the Media

While the marketing for Coolest Girl in School calls it "Grand Theft Auto for girls," this mobile game seems to be closer in spirit to Bully, with a Seventeen Magazine makeover. The only similarities to GTA seem to be that both games have an edgy sense of humor, and have provoked moral outrage.

In Coolest Girl in School, which comes out later this year in Australia and early next year in the United States, you play as a high school girl who has two weeks to become popular. The game is an RPG that uses a combination of customizing your outfit, making and losing friends, and answering teen magazine-style multiple choice questions to determine what kind of social status you will achieve.

The moral choices in Coolest Girl in School aren't necessarily promoted in any particular way, but they will have an impact on your social standing. Topics like drug-use and sexual experimentation are in the game, which has upset at least one conservative organization in Australia and earned the game some pre-release notoriety. Depending on your moral choices within the game, you can fall in with one of several crowds, and descriptors like "hot," "funny ha ha," "arty," "sporty," and "smart" score your progress.

The game's art style is evocative of girlhood scrapbooking and teenage note-passing. The juxtaposition of this seemingly innocent act with what many deem adult subject matter is unsettling (and depending on your position, a bit on the humorous side). Your character's highly customizable wardrobe includes styles like emo, fasionista, and indie, along with styles that sound distinctively Australian, like "bogan" (low-class), "cooly d" (hip-hop) and "bush pig" (rough).

Whether or not the game proves to be as interesting (and funny) in execution as it sounds in concept has yet to be seen, but it certainly takes a different tact than other games that are aimed specifically at teenage girls.

Hi Nicole! First of all we love you x

Ok so have you played all the way to the end and been told what your score was and how many friends you have? If you have you will have been given a code you should hang onto as it will help out ALLOT with the next game. Even if you did ok, I would advise to try to do better. You can never be cool enough.
